Ruling on Hurmet-E-Musahra

Question:

AssalamoAlaikum, since knowing about hurmete musahra, I have been doubting on myself a lot. Although I am quite sure, I never touched or looked at my father in laws private part with lust. I keep getting troubling thoughts making bad scenarios in my mind which I try to reject or deny. It makes me depressed to not have control on my thoughts too at times. This situation sometimes me see worreied as I do not think of bad things. I am a person of waswasas and may be OCD ( not diagnosed) and sometimes when I try not to think about something it forcibly enters my mind. Once I was trying to think that whether ii have seen private parts of any of my mehrum suddnely nd the bad images started to come to my mind but there was no lust just was trying to recall and making sure that I hadn’t seen any bad thing of my father in law but then I got anxious of that thought as I wanted to reject that thought later. What ever thoughts were there, I didn’t have any lust. I wanted to ask whether bad thoughts about private parts or other bad thoughts of either father or father in law cause hurmete musahra? What about in the case when they forcibly enters mind when someone tries to reject them?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu’ alaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We highly admire your level of concern in keeping yourself away from any type of sin, or wrong doing. It is the duty of every Muslim to acquire such a level of knowledge that he or she may fulfil their obligatory acts, as well as to abstain from all types of Haram. As reported from Rasool Allah صلي الله عليه و سلم.

“طلب العلم فريضة علي كل مسلم” رواه إبن ماجة

Translation: Seeking knowledge Is obligatory upon every Muslim.

The Scenario that you have mentioned above will NOT necessitate Hurmate Musahra. Merely having wicked thoughts creep up in your mind of either your father, father in law, or any other family member will not be enough to constitute Hurmate musahra.1

Waswasa

As Muslims, our biggest enemy is Shayton. He is constantly working hard in trying to steer us away from the path of righteousness. He uses many different tools in trying to capture us in his plot. One of the tools Shayton uses is Waswasa. He would often place such thoughts in our mind which causes us to have doubts in all aspects of our religion.

As soon as these waswasa start to emanate, we should try our best to not entertain these thoughts, and immediately indulge ourselves in Zikr. The more we entertain these thoughts and keep them in our mind, the deeper we will fall in shayton’s plot.

لَةِ وَانْتِشَارُهَا هَلْ هُوَ شَرْطُ تَحْقِيقِ الشَّهْوَةِ؟ اخْتَلَفَ الْمَشَايِخُ فِيهِ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: شَرْطٌ.هِ لِغَيْرِهِ، وَتَحَرُّكُ الْآوَتَفْسِيرُ الشَّهْوَةِ هِيَ أَنْ يَشْتَهِيَ بِقَلْبِهِ وَيُعْرَفُ ذَلِكَ بِإِقْرَارِهِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ بَاطِنٌ لَا وُقُوفَ عَلَيْ

الْمَجْبُوبِ وَنَحْوِ ذَلِكَ.الْعِنِّينِ وَوَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: لَيْسَ بِشَرْطٍ هُوَ الصَّحِيحُ؛ لِأَنَّ الْمَسَّ وَالنَّظَرَ عَنْ شَهْوَةٍ يَتَحَقَّقُ بِدُونِ ذَلِكَ كَ

ن شاباً قادراً على لنظر والمسّ كان ذلك عن شهوة وما (لا) فلا، وهذا إذا كاوالشهوة: أن تنتشر آلته إليه بالنظر إلى الفرج أو المس إذا لم يكن منتشراً قبل هذا، وإذا كان منتشراً فإن كان يزداد قوة و….. با فهذا هو حدّ الشهوة التي حكاها…. عن أصحابنا رحمهم الله، وإليه الجماع، وإن كان شيخاً أو عنيناً فحدُّ الشهوة أن يتحرك قلبه بالاشتهاء إن لم يكن متحركاً قبل ذلك، ويزداد الاشتهاء إن كان متحركاً السرخسي رحمهما الله. مال شيخ الإسلام المعروف بخواهر زاده وشمس الأئمة

ه الله لا يعتبر تحرك القلب، وإنما يعتبر تحرك الآلة، وكان لا يفتي بثبوت وكثير من المشايخ لم يشترطوا الانتشار، وجعلوا حدّ الشهوة أن يميل قلبه إليها ويشتهي جماعها. وكان الفقيه محمد بن مقاتل الرازي رحموالذي ماتت شهوته حتى لم يتحرك عضوه بالملامسة.الحرمة في الشيخ الكبير العنين
